That's what counts

"Comparison is the thief of joy"

This quote is so utterly true. Too often we compare ourselves to others. I say "we", because I know that we all have, at one time or another, compared ourselves to someone else. I know, for sure, I have. We compare ourselves to how well we did and how well they did. We compare ourselves to how high their grades are and how low our grades are. We see them achieving at something and we feel like we are failing at something.

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart,
as working for the Lord, not for human masters"
- Colossians 3: 23

At the end of the day if you have worked your hardest for the Lord, that's what counts. Nothing else. Be happy. If that somebody you compare yourself to beat you or did better than you, try to be happy(in a content sort of way), because you worked for what counted. It doesn't matter whether you got last place, or  you didn't do as well as you had hoped it only matters that you did everything as unto the Lord. Because placing your your happiness on winning will make for a topsy-turvy life.

" Instead of wishing you were someone else,
be proud of who you are.
You never know who has been looking at you
and wishing they were you."

I know this goes for us bloggers. I know for me as a blogger, for sure. I look at peoples seemingly perfect lives and start comparing mine to theirs. I look at how beautiful their pictures are and compare them to mine. I read their writing and compare my posts to theirs.

Then I remind myself, I wrote for the Lord, even if it was a completely spontaneous post. Pleasing the Lord is what matters.

  2. Cindi!!! I quoted you on FB, this is BEAUTIFUL and just RIGHT. Honestly I almost quit blogging because comparing myself to other bloggers was eating me ALIVE for months...the Lord finally starting working in my heart over the last couple of months and I'm doing a lot better. My heart condition with comparisons has changed a lot. God worked His way in my heart and showed me that it's OK if my pictures aren't as amazing as the next, or that I'm not as domestic, or rich, or crafty. I am uniquely me and God will use that. He will use me and the gifts I DO HAVE. I have them for a reason. I have to focus on what I have not on what I wish I had. And you are absolutely right, as long as we are doing it unto the Lord, and we are right before Him, that is ALL that matters.
Praise the good Lord Jesus for this post of yours, as the Spirit was at work in you, that is for sure.
    Love you Cindi!
